The President of Chile Michelle Bachelet visited Costa Rica to
reaffirms the good relationship between the two nations. She and
President Oscar Arias signed an “Agreement of Association”, which links
the bilateral free trade agreement effective since 2002 with political
and cooperation pacts later agreed upon. President Bachelet said that
Chile is committed to support Dr. Arias’ foreign policy priorities on
arms, cooperation and the environment. In addition, Chilean experts are
advising Costa Rica on the preparation of an eventual free trade
agreement with China.
