• Residency information: from the United States Embassy

  Costa Rican Immigration now requires all foreign nationals applying for residency in the country to show proof of registration with their national embassy. After discussions with the U.S. Embassy, immigration officials have agreed to accept a printout of an e-mail confirmation from the U.S. Department of State’s automated registration system as proof that U.S. citizens have registered with the embassy. With representatives from nearly every Central American country, as well as Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, the conference is expected to piggyback off of a 2004 U.N.
