According to
FDI Magazine, Costa Rica was ranked as the second best place in their
FDI Countries of the Future 2009-2010, rankings of "countr[ies] of the future for direct foreign investment" (FDI), in Central America and the Caribbean.
The rankings are based on categories including:
Economic
potential
Human resources
Costs efficiency
Quality of life
Friendly
business atmosphere and
Investments attraction strategy.
After the analysis, Costa Rica was three points below Puerto Rico.
Costa Rica excelled over other countries, including the Dominican Republic, Panama and Puerto Rico by placing first in the availability and quality of human resources.
It finished in second place, behind only the Dominican Republic, in Investments Attraction Strategy.
According to Irving Soto, spokesperson for Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), the results obtained by Costa Rica can be considered "satisfactory", because they reaffirm the position of the country as one of the leaders in the region of FDI attraction.
