Residency information: from the United States Embassy
Costa Rican Immigration now requires all foreign nationals applying for residency in the country to show proof of registration with their national embassy. After discussions with the U.S. Embassy, immigration officials have agreed to accept a printout of an e-mail confirmation from the U.S. Department of State’s automated registration system as proof that U.S. citizens have registered with the embassy.

Tourists from Europe Up over 10% this year
Costa Rica's tourism is down over 12% this year, however, it is not due to decreasing tourists from Europe. In fact, more tourists from Europe have visited Costa Rica this year than last year, and ICT (Costa Rica's Institute of Tourism) is projecting that the number of European visitors will be up over 10% compared to 2008.
